How the ledger works
The 30-day timer in The Blood of Dawnwalker is not real time — it is 480 sections: 30 days plus 30 nights, and each full day or night is split into 8 sections. The clock only moves when you complete a marked action or invest in a skill; exploration, combat and menu time are free. The full mechanics are in the 30-day timer guide.
Why you budget sections, not days
Spending to the day is how people lose ending options. The ledger works in the smallest unit the game uses — the section — so you can see exactly how much of the window you keep after each kind of spend. The skill cost is the one that is easy to undercount: each perk learned or upgraded at a road shrine burns about 1–3 sections with no hourglass icon, so the conservative budget is 2 per perk.
Reading the risk
The read at the bottom is not a number the game gives you — it is a planning judgement on your buffer. A healthy buffer means you can still take the ending-critical beats and keep margin; a thin one means you will barely make them; over budget means you run past day 30 and lose ending options, the family-related ones first. If you are chasing a specific ending, work backwards from it and protect days in the first third of the run.
