Ambrus is the Right Fist of the Knyaz — the youngest of the vrakhiri, and the one who leans hardest on charm. Everything about the arc is built to make you trust him, and the fight itself is a single-phase duel where that deception stops and the mechanics take over. His arena sits in the Maragir Wealds on the world map, and his full profile — role, loot and drop details — is in the boss wiki. This page is the fight itself: verified tells, the video, and the counters.
Location and entry options
The duel is the finale of The Gilded Gauntlet in the Maragir Wealds. How you arrive decides whether the fight starts fair:
- Bittersweet Toast route (recommended). Intercept the Ambrus prisoner transport, have Vera prepare the concoction, then take the “I don’t trust anything you offer” dialogue choice before the bell. His drink is poisoned — the fight opens with his weakness already working.
- Direct challenge. Refuse the scheme and face him clean. Same duel, but you give up the poison window.
Before you fight
Once the concoction lands, the poison ticks through the early fight and thins him before you have earned it.
Core fight tips
Stop attacking during the Scarlet Shield
When his health bar turns grey with a diamond icon, the Scarlet Shield is up — every attack you throw heals him. Stop, back off, and let the buff expire. Chasing damage here is the number-one way to throw this fight.
Dodge the Cleaving Lunge
Cleaving Lunge is his teleport sweep — he vanishes and reappears mid-swing. When he blinks out, expect him on your position and dodge on reappearance rather than attacking the afterimage.
Parry the Eightfold Slice
Eightfold Slice is his 8-hit frontal flurry. A perfect block counter works extremely well against it: parry the rhythm and the whole string collapses into your biggest damage window of the fight.

Riding out the blood burst
Past the midpoint Ambrus starts channeling the arena itself: he lights up red and the clearing flashes crimson as a blood burst sweeps through. Hold distance when the glow starts, dodge back through the wave, and do not panic-commit while the floor is still burning.
The perfect block remains the answer to everything else. The gold spark of a clean parry opens the widest punish window in the duel.
What the resolution carries into the finale
Like the other vassal arcs, clearing Ambrus is a choice rather than a fixed outcome: you can execute outright, drink his blood to absorb a unique vampiric skill, or bind his soul within your essence, which reshapes your build for the rest of the run. Decide the resolution against your ending goal before you fight — a rushed resolution is the most common avoidable ending mistake. The vassal order guide covers what each resolution carries into the endgame.
