Bad Blood is the prologue’s last entry and its only extended dungeon. The journal files it fifth in the Prologue and places it in Laslea Glen — a rough level 1–8 band, though the quest itself is more combat than the four entries before it. The introduction is written from after the fact: “We went to the mines to go get silver ore for the rebellion – but Brencis caught wind of our plans and attacked. I was wounded, I passed out – I don’t remember what happened afterwards.”
Where the quest sits
The quest opens with Vlad and the surviving miners inside the mine and ends at Laslea, with Brencis as the named figure closing the chapter. It is the longest step list in the prologue, and it is the point where the journal first hands Coen vrakhiri abilities — two of the ten entries ask for them. It follows Sacred Covenant directly.
Journal objectives
The journal records these ten entries, in this order:
- Search for your father deeper in the mine — “Vlad says some of our men ran deeper into the mine. My father might be with them. I need to find him.”
- Aid Ludwig — “Ludwig is trapped under a beam – if we don’t help him, he will die.”
- Help Kostel — “Kostel is wounded. We need to help him before he bleeds to death.”
- Find a way back up — “I fell down a shaft, into the lower levels of the mine. I need to find a way back up.”
- Leave the mine — “My family is in grave danger. I need to find a way out of the mines.”
- Return to Laslea and save your family — “I need to get back to Laslea as soon as possible and save my family from Brencis.”
- Find Vladimir — “Vlad must have left the mines on his own. I should find him and make sure he’s alright.”
- Talk with Vladimir — “I should talk with Vlad and discuss what happened to me.”
- Use vrakhiri skills to cross the precipice — “I need to use my newly acquired skills to cross the precipice.”
- Defeat Brencis — “Brencis sacked Laslea. I need to defeat him in order to save my family.”
Before you go
Nothing must be prepared beyond finishing the earlier prologue entries, but the mine does ask for combat rather than conversation, so the combat basics guide is the useful read beforehand. The quest ends the prologue’s fixed sequence: once it is done the valley opens and the journal’s next chapter, The thirty days, begins with Smoke and Ashes.
