Sacred Covenant is the prologue’s set-piece before everything breaks. The journal files it fourth in the Prologue and places it in Laslea Glen — the opening region, roughly a level 1–8 band. Its introduction spells out the stakes: “Blood Mass is tonight – and Knyaz Brencis and his retinue will be at the church to oversee the collection of tithes. We’re worried about Mum. Vrakhiri don’t look kindly on the weak.”
Where the quest sits
This is a social quest with a deadline attached to the day cycle. The journal’s own steps are about spending the hours before the Mass and then taking a seat — the clock does the work. Brencis is the named figure the journal ties to the scene, alongside Coen’s parents Pieter and Esme. It follows Like Father, Like Son in the fixed order and sets up Bad Blood.
Journal objectives
The journal records these four entries, in this order:
- Pass time until sunset — “There’s still some time until the Mass. I’m free to spend it as I see fit.”
- Go back to Pieter to wait till the Mass — “I could spent the rest of the day with Dad and we’d go to the Mass together.”
- Sit in the pew next to Pieter and Esme — “The Mass begins soon, I should take a seat.”
- Talk with other villagers — “The whole village is here. A good opportunity to catch up with neighbours.”
Before you go
There is no gear check here: Laslea Glen’s band is the lowest in the game and Blood Mass is a dialogue-driven sequence rather than a fight. Do the optional conversations if you want the village’s names in your head, then expect the prologue to end violently — the journal’s fifth prologue entry, Bad Blood, is the one that follows directly. The prologue walkthrough covers the chapter end to end.
