Commander,
You will provide me with a dozen trusted men, each equipped with a spade, trowel, thirty feet of hemp rope, two buckets, a wheelbarrow and a sieve. I shall come by your camp soon and personally direct them to where they are needed.
Disobey me and I shall show you the meaning of agony.
Armaya

Instructions from Armaya is a found letter written by Armaya to an unnamed Commander. It requisitions a dozen trusted men, each equipped with a spade, trowel, thirty feet of hemp rope, two buckets, a wheelbarrow and a sieve, for excavation work that Armaya will personally direct. The letter’s threatening tone — “Disobey me and I shall show you the meaning of agony” — and its focus on dig sites tie it to the excavation activities associated with boyaress Xanthe.
