Weapons in The Blood of Dawnwalker are what Coen uses to carve through Vale Sangora, by day as a human and by night as something hungrier. This guide covers the families, the rarity tiers, and the standout blades worth going out of your way for. For the full roll of every piece, the in-game codex is the living list — below is a curated tour.
Weapon families
The arsenal splits into a handful of blade shapes, each with its own feel:
- Swords / Longswords — balanced, the workhorse of most builds.
- Greatswords / Zweihanders — heavy two-handers that hit hard and slow.
- Falchions / Cleavers — brutal, choppy blades built for sheer damage.
- Messers / Baselards — lighter, quicker cut-and-thrust options.
- Axes / Maces / Hammers — blunt and brutal, fewer but memorable.
- Billhooks — an unusual reach weapon with a hooking profile.
- Claws — the vampire form’s natural weapons at night.
Rarity and damage tiers
Weapons are graded by rarity, and rarer generally means a higher damage ceiling. As a rough ladder:
| Tier | Feel |
|---|---|
| Basic / Superior | Common finds, serviceable |
| Master | Well-made, a step up |
| Epic | Standout pieces for most of a playthrough |
| Unique | One-of-a-kind, often story or contest blades |
| Legendary | The pinnacle — few exist |
The damage figures quoted in the table below are max damage values, useful for quick comparison rather than as the only factor in a build.

Below the epics, Superior and Master blades are everywhere — bandit gutters, soldier swords, artisan longswords, rebel falchions — and they are more than enough to clear most of the game. Spend your Denarii on the upgrade track (see below) before chasing the top tier.
Making them better
Every weapon can be improved. The Armourer in Maragir, the Blacksmith in Parlita, and Vera the Witch in the Maragir Wealds all run an “improve my equipment” service for Denarii. The upgrades guide has the exact steps and what each tier costs.
