Update 1.1 shipped a FrameGen technology update with dedicated settings — and one officially acknowledged open problem. The final section of the official patch notes, “Known issues we’re currently looking into”, states:
Game may crash on switching FrameGen from OFF to ON (on AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT only).
What is confirmed
- The issue is specific to the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT. The official notes do not extend it to other GPUs.
- The trigger is switching FrameGen from OFF to ON. The notes say nothing about crashes while FrameGen is simply enabled, or when switching ON to OFF.
- Rebel Wolves says it is looking into it. No fix, hotfix date or patch version has been announced. Some press coverage speculates about a hotfix in the November–December 2026 window, but that is not an official commitment.
Practical workarounds (not official fixes)
These follow from the stated trigger rather than from a published fix. They are suggestions, not instructions from Rebel Wolves:
- Avoid toggling FrameGen OFF→ON during a session. Pick ON or OFF before loading your save and leave it there.
- If you must change it, quit to desktop and relaunch with the new setting rather than switching in-game.
- If you are on an RX 9070 XT and see repeat crashes, leave FrameGen OFF until an official fix ships; the game remains fully playable without it.
The Update 1.1 notes cover the rest of the patch, including the FrameGen setting itself, the respec and the 1,100+ fixes. Console performance options are documented in Console performance modes, and the master update log tracks when a fix actually lands.
