Update 1.1 shipped on October 22, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is the first major post-launch update — the page that turns the October Update Preview from a plan into a released patch. Rebel Wolves describes it as over 1,100 improvements and fixes.
New features
- Draught of Mind Rebirth — the game’s first respec. It lets you forget all your Swordmastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism abilities and spend the time you invested learning them on a different set of abilities. See Respec: Reset Your Skills for when it matters and how it changes build planning.
- Animal petting — you can now pet dogs and cats you meet in the world.
- Reworked Story mode — pick between Forgiving (the difficulty previously called Story) and a new Story mode that adds extra combat assist on top of the easier setting.
- Additional subtitle settings — larger subtitle font sizes, and the option to show subtitles on all dialogue lines.
Headline gameplay and combat changes
- FrameGen update with a dedicated setting.
- Targeting and camera reworked: improved target locking, locking onto enemies, and breaking away from a locked enemy.
- Shadowstep and Planeshift respond more sharply when target-locking and when attaching to surfaces.
- Merchant buyback — a Buyback option when trading with vendors, and equipped items are hidden when selling.
- Controller deadzone setting added under options.
- Item upgrade costs rebalanced, especially at higher levels; items can now be equipped in both the day and night loadouts at once.
- Boars and wolves have lower health at high levels, and the courtyard guard near the cathedral no longer one-shots Coen before level 30.
Quest blockers fixed in 1.1 (searchable)
If you are here because a quest is stuck, these are the progression fixes confirmed in the official notes:
- A Hero’s End — permanently closed hallway doors, blocked entry to the arena and the final encounter.
- Stronger Than Achilles — Anca failed to spawn and blocked progress; her hair also disappeared.
- Midnight Reckoning — closed doors blocked progress, Coen could leave the quest area, Bakir stood idle at the start of a fight.
- Home Sweet Home — Coen getting stuck, too little damage, difficulty spikes, infinite loading when dying at the portal, orange screen.
- Rise at Dawn — Coen stuck, random death during a cutscene, Drogos appearing behind the gate.
- The Gilded Gauntlet — objective persisting on the map, a lost letter, fights not consuming time.
- Where Loyalty Lies — black screen after talking to the Old Lady, getting stuck jumping off a cart.
- Hive and Seek — falling through the map with Planeshift, Nish stuck in the interrogation room, dead kobolds vanishing from a cutscene.
- A Monk and a Saint — Mihai’s chalice objective impossible if the crypt was discovered early; the objective vanishing after interacting with his grave.
- Our Rotten Roots — an invisible platform and Bakir absent from the fight.
- Echoes of Silenced Bells — getting stuck inside a tower, screen-flash artifacts, and being able to skip the entire fight.
Also fixed: infinite loading screens in The Night of Horrors, Someone Needs a Lesson, Things Will Be Different Now and A Hero’s End; crashes after reading books or letters and at the end of Lunar Games; and saving being blocked after Voracious Bite.
Fixes by category
Update 1.1 is dominated by fixes — Rebel Wolves groups them as Miscellaneous, General, Gameplay, Quests, Narrative, Art, Audio, Plugin, and Stability. Highlights include:
- Stability — multiple crash fixes (Voracious Bite, Mesmerized kills, specific quest endings), infinite-loading-screen fixes, and performance dips.
- Quests — a large batch of progression blocks, NPCs vanishing or misplaced, wrong objective markers, and duplicate rewards.
- Gameplay — ability-use limits, enemy AI, save-blocking issues, specific boss fights, and number bugs such as Omniblock recovering stamina past 100%.
- Audio — combat music dropping out, garbled voice lines, oversized ambient sound, and underwater muffling.
The full per-line change list lives in the official Update 1.1 notes. The previous hotfix is documented in Hotfix 1.0.5, and every release is tracked in the master update log.
