Status effects are the quiet engine under most of The Blood of Dawnwalker’s buildcraft. They arrive from three directions — the potions you drink, the perks and abilities you unlock, and the passive bonuses on your gear — and they decide whether a fight tilts in your favour or against it. This reference groups every effect by what it does.
Offensive buffs (deal more damage)
These raise the damage Coen puts out, usually for a window after drinking a draught.

Effect
What it does
How to clear
Encumbered
Movement and actions are slowed when you carry more than your limit
Drop weight back under your maximum load
Permanent effects
A couple of effects don’t tick down at all:
Permanent health increase + skill point — Razkovniche Elixir grants a lasting health boost and a skill point that stays with you.
Corruption tiers — built up through blood infusions; they persist as part of your vampire progression.
How to use the system
Layer your buffs before a hard fight. A damage draught, a defence balm, and a stamina tonic each occupy a different axis, so they stack cleanly instead of overwriting one another.
Match your damage type to the enemy. The animal / mortal / supernatural brews are cheap insurance against the wrong kind of foe.
Lean on debuffs in boss fights. Stun and Weak don’t just shave a health bar — they buy the windows you need to land a parry or a spell.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a buff and a debuff?
A buff helps its target; a debuff hurts it. Coen can apply debuffs to enemies (bleed, stun, weak) and receive buffs from potions and perks, while enemies can inflict debuffs like Encumbered back on him.
Do status effects stack?
Potency scales rather than stacks endlessly: consumable effects come in Small / Medium / Large (or Slightly / Significantly) tiers, so a stronger draught replaces a weaker one rather than piling on.
How do I remove a debuff on Coen?
Most are temporary and simply expire. Encumbered is the one you clear yourself — drop enough weight to get back under your carry limit and it lifts immediately.
Where do most status effects come from?
Three places: consumables (potions, brews, infusions, salves), character perks and abilities, and passive bonuses baked into certain weapons or armour.
