Vampires are the headline threat of The Blood of Dawnwalker, but the rank-and-file of Vale Sangora will kill you just as dead. This bestiary covers the four regular enemy types you’ll meet between the bosses — for the named rivals themselves, see the boss compendium.
Blood Guards
Type: Humans bound by Vrakhiri blood. Habitat: In the vicinity of Xanthe.
The most feared of the mortal servants. Through the dark rites of the blood-bound oaths they bind body and mind to their vampiric masters, and they show a zealous devotion to the Vrakhiri that makes them dangerous in groups. Treat them as disciplined soldiers, not fodder.
Kobold
Type: Sentient, mostly subterranean monsters. Habitat: Mainly caves.
Small and fragile in appearance, but patient to a fault with their prey. They attack in packs, especially when you stop watching your surroundings — the classic ambush is the one you walked past. Listen for the swarm and keep your back to a wall.
Ancient Undead
Type: Animated human corpses. Habitat: Sealed tombs and ruins.
Dredged from Vale Sangora’s old ruins, where myth says they were buried alongside their masters and went on serving even in death. They have no stomach and need no food; what they have is persistence. Expect them where the stone is oldest.
Psoglav
Type: Canine, turned after a Vrakhiri fang lodges in its body. Habitat: Lairs — ruined buildings, caves, dens.
An infected wolf that craves fresh blood, wandering the ruins of Vale Sangora. The transformation itself requires a Vrakhiri fang driven into the beast, which ties the creature back to the vampire curse at the heart of the game.
Fighting them
Most regular enemies die to the same fundamentals as everything else: directional attacks, well-timed parries, and the right status effects applied through your consumables and perks. The wrinkle is numbers — Kobolds especially want to surround you, so positioning matters more than raw damage.
